Everpatch vs TuxCare ELS for PHP

Extended support for end-of-life PHP, including PHP2Shell on PHP 8.1 and older, without a second PHP install or a $5,000 minimum.

TuxCare ELS for PHP installs a separate PHP under /opt/alt and sells it in annual blocks. Everpatch upgrades the PHP you already run, in place, with yum upgrade or apt upgrade, and is included in GetPageSpeed Ultra at $500/year for up to 10 servers.

Why in-place matters

A parallel alt-php install means re-pointing every pool, vhost and cron job at a new binary path, and keeping two PHPs straight until you are done. Everpatch ships the same package names as the packages you already have, with a higher release number. yum upgrade replaces them, your configs keep working, and yum downgrade reverts. That is the shortest path from "PHP2Shell is in the news" to "patched".

What Everpatch covers today

  • CentOS 7 / RHEL 7: PHP 5.4 and every PHP from 5.6 to 8.3 with security backports, plus a current PHP 8.4 stack. CentOS 7 coverage
  • CentOS 6: PHP 5.3, 7.0 and 7.1. CentOS 6 PHP
  • Ubuntu 20.04: PHP 7.4 and 8.0 to 8.4. Ubuntu 18.04: PHP 7.2. Debian 10: PHP 7.3. Ubuntu and Debian guide

Each runtime page lists every CVE fixed in that line and the first PHP2Shell-fixed release.

Which plan

Frequently asked questions

Is TuxCare the same company as CloudLinux?

TuxCare is CloudLinux's extended-support brand. CloudLinux's own alt-php and ea-php builds for cPanel and CloudLinux OS are a separate matter; the PHP2Shell page explains how to check those.

Can I switch from TuxCare alt-php to Everpatch?

Yes. Everpatch upgrades the system PHP (stock, Remi or Surý packages), so point your sites back at the system PHP once it is upgraded, then remove alt-php.

Does PHP 7.4 still get security patches?

Not from php.net releases: PHP 7.4 is end of life. Everpatch ships the PHP2Shell fix and later php-src security fixes as packages: PHP 7.4 for CentOS 7 and PHP 7.4 for Ubuntu 20.04.

Do I need to talk to sales?

No. Install from the public repository, evaluate on your own servers, and subscribe when it goes to production. If you need a contractual SLA, invoice or purchase order, GetPageSpeed Enterprise covers that.
