tenantd is free, on every server, for every tenant, with every feature unlocked. There are no tiers, no license keys, and no metered surcharges. The MySQL governor, dedicated per-tenant mariadb@ instances, eBPF IO observability, the ProxySQL front door, and the fleet dashboard are all included at $0.
The catch is that there is no catch: it is closed-source software given away for free, maintained by GetPageSpeed. We built it to end the practice of renting a forked kernel.
How tenantd is funded: optional paid support
You never have to pay for tenantd. If you run it at scale and want a vendor relationship, GetPageSpeed sells optional support so a real team stands behind your fleet:

Per server or per tenant?
Neither - it's free. A host with 1 user and a host with 500 users both pay nothing.
Migration
tenantctl-migrate --dry-run previews the conversion from your existing LVE caps and CageFS skeletons; tenantctl-migrate apply does it in under 2 minutes on a ~100-user host, with --rollback if anything looks wrong. The FPM swap window is under 30s; cron and SSH continue uninterrupted. Then cancel your CloudLinux license and stop paying for a forked kernel. FAQ
Why is it free? What's the angle?
GetPageSpeed's business is nginx performance modules and hosting tooling. tenantd is free because a free, stock-kernel CloudLinux replacement is the fastest way to end forked-kernel lock-in across the cPanel ecosystem, and because operators who trust this tool are the operators who buy our other things. We would rather have the install base than a $30 line item.
Is it really closed-source AND free?
Yes. Free as in price, source withheld. It is maintained by a company, signed, and shipped through the same RPM channel as our nginx work, not a hobby drop.
Can I run tenantd on RHEL 9 or Rocky 9?
Yes - AlmaLinux 9, RHEL 9, and Rocky 9 share the same kernel ABI; the RPMs install on all three.
Does tenantd require cPanel?
Today yes. A cPanel-less mode is on the roadmap.
